Directors
Helen O’Meara
I decided to set this business up to give patients a choice and access to quick diagnoses.
I graduated from the University of Sheffield with a B.Med.Sci in Orthoptics in 1996 and started working for the NHS in September 1996. During my 26-plus years as an Orthoptist I have gained numerous qualifications and skills including post-graduate diplomas in teaching and management.
I currently work as joint head of orthoptics for a large local NHS trust where I also lead on stroke, visual processing and special educational needs.
I'm a member of the British and Irish Orthoptic Society and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
Away from work. I am married and I am kept very busy by my two daughters. I am an active member of the Jambusters WI, of which I was president for seven years.
Sean O’Meara
Sean is a director of LVPS with a special interest in Visual Processing Disorders.
He previously worked as a sports journalist.
He now splits his time between being an international business editor and LVPS.
His hobbies include sport of all kinds.
Our Orthoptic Team
Alison Leak
I qualified as an Orthoptist in 1991 having completed my studies at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.
Since then I have worked in Peterborough and Lincolnshire, and will soon complete 33 years in the NHS. During this time I have gained numerous additional qualifications in extended roles including visual processing, teaching, glaucoma, low vision, stroke, additional needs and management. I am registered with both the Health and Care Professions Council and British & Irish Orthoptic Society.
Leonie Robson
Leonie Robson graduated from The University of Liverpool in 2004 achieving a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Orthoptics.
She has practiced Orthoptics since 2004 and her first job role was at the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Trust, where she worked for three years. Following this, Leonie relocated to a large local NHS Trust in September 2007 where she gained further experience. She then took on the role of Joint Head Orthoptist in January 2016. Leonie practices all aspects of Orthoptics for both paediatric and adult cases. Since 2016, Leonie has developed her portfolio in leadership and management and teaching studies by completing initiatives such as the Mary Seacole programme and teaching in the lifelong learning sector. Leonie enjoys a multitude of activities outside work including being an active member of the Women’s Institute and attending regular gym classes alongside fulfilling the demands of a busy family household.
Waka Watson
Waka started working as an Orthoptic assistant for a large local NHS Trust in 2018, and has a special interest in Visual Processing Disorders.
Waka has previously worked as a healthcare assistant on a stroke unit and also as a nursery nurse.
Her hobbies include netball, cooking, baking and being a busy mother of three.
